Youth Adventure Club
Launceston PCYC’s Youth Adventure Club is a collective of like-minded young people aged between 13 and 18 who come together once a week to learn the essentials of outdoor recreation.
Each week you will learn about enjoying Tasmania’s Wilderness in a safe and fun way, including map reading and navigation, packing a survival and first aid kit, essential rope handling, knots and belaying techniques, safety checks and hazard identification, hiking preparation and execution.
Each term, there will be an in-field activity including mountain bike riding, kayaking, hiking and abseiling. During school holidays you will have the opportunity to participate in overnight camps at some of the most beautiful parts around this State.
This activity isn’t just about having fun, although there will be plenty of that. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to undertake specific training in a chosen field, become a youth mentor and have the ability to pursue a career in guiding, other outdoor recreation or tourism pathways by having completed the basic pre training requirements followed by the support you need in order to reach your goals.
If you’re wanting to get active, get healthy and get social, apply today to join the Youth Adventure Club. If transport is an issue, don’t let that stop you, just let us know and we will try to help.
